Hitomi is a high school student in Japan. She loves to tell peoples fortunes. She also loves to run and is a member of the track team. Hitomi often has visions of the future which are very acturate. She uses her tarot cards to read fortunes. She also has a pendant. The cards and pendant were given to her by her grandmother. The pendant has some connection with the Energist used to power ther Escaflowne. Hitomi gets caught up in Van's quest for the dragon
and winds up in the world of Gaea. Her ability to see visions about the future attracts the attention of the Zaibach Empire. Her powers hold the key to the fate of Gaea.
Hitomi's love life.
While in Gaea, Hitomi finds herself in love with several of the people there. In the first episode we leard that Hitomi is in love with Amano Susumu. Once in Gaea she finds herself in love with Allen Crusade Schezar. When Hitomi finds out that she isn't the one for Allen, she tries to change destiny and creats an big mess. Of course in the end she descouvers that she is truly in love with Van. And her feelings for him may have saved Gaea.
